MELBOURNE - Aug 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over northeast Victoria will weaken as it moves slowly northeast today. A series of cold fronts will affect Victoria this week with the first expected to reach far western Victoria early Tuesday. This front is expected to weaken as it crosses the state during Tuesday. The next front on Wednesday is also forecast to weaken as it crosses the state, however a stronger front will reach western Victoria late Thursday with an associated low expected to form near Tasmania Thursday night. Forecast for the rest of MondayWidespread areas of morning fog and early frost inland. A mild and mostly sunny day to follow although high cloud increasing from the west in the afternoon. Light winds tending moderate northerly and freshening later in the west.Tuesday 14 AugustIsolated showers extending from the west, affecting most areas, although mostly dry over the far north and the far southeast. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres by the end of the day. Mild and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, shifting west to southwesterly.Wednesday 15 AugustIsolated showers mainly over southern and mountain districts, scattered over the far southwest and about the northeast ranges. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds.Thursday 16 August Isolated showers mainly over southern and mountain districts, tending to rain areas in the southwest at night. Showers falling as snow above 1100 metres. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds. A southwest change reaching the far west at night.
