MELBOURNE - Aug 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system over South Australia extends a ridge towards New South Wales as a deep low in the eastern Tasman Sea slowly moves eastwards. During the early part of this week the high pressure system will move over NSW as a series of fronts pass to the south of the state. Snow showers are possible over the Alps from late Tuesday as some of these fronts clip the region, but the remainder of the state should remain fine with relatively light winds through until later in the week when a more significant front is forecast to move through New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers on the northern half of the coast, clearing during the day. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning frost and fog areas, chiefly about the ranges. Southerly winds along the coast, tending light and variable inland. Dangerous surf conditions in the north.Tuesday 14 AugustIsolated showers developing on the western slopes of the far southern ranges later in the day, more widespread and falling as snow above about 1400 metres. Otherwise fine, although with with morning frosts. Northwest to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 15 AugustIsolated showers developing on the western slopes of the far southern ranges, more widespread and falling as snow above about 1400 metres. Otherwise fine, although with with morning frosts. Northwest to southwesterly winds.Thursday 16 AugustIsolated showers developing over the southern inland, becoming more widespread during the day closer to the Victorian border. Showers falling as snow above about 1200 metres. Fine remainder.
