MELBOURNE - Aug 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located south of the Bight and a deep low is over the Tasman Sea. The high will drift slowly eastwards during Saturday to be located over southwest Victoria by early Sunday, while the low moves away towards New Zealand. The high will then move northeastwards across Victoria later Sunday and early Monday as the next cold front approaches from the west. The front will weaken and slide away across southwestern Victoria on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers in southern and mountain areas and isolated showers reaching some northern areas. Snowfalls above above 1200 metres. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Saturday 11 AugustScattered showers in East Gippsland and the central coast at first. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts. Generally fine over the northern plains. Snow above 1400 metres. Early frost patches possible in the northeast. A cool and partly cloudy day with a moderate southerly wind.Sunday 12 AugustIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, more widespread in East Gippsland, contracting eastwards during the afternoon and evening. Snow falls above 1500 metres clearing during the day. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Monday 13 AugustFine apart from morning fog patches. Early frost inland then a mild and mostly sunny day although high cloud increasing later in the west. Light winds tending moderate northerly in the west.Tuesday 14 AugustIsolated showers developing in the southwest during the morning, extending to remaining western areas and central areas during the afternoon.
