Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is deepening over the central Tasman Sea in the response to an upper level trough, while a high pressure system near the Bight extends a ridge to the east. This pattern is directing a vigorous south to southwesterly airstream across New South Wales, which will gradually ease during the weekend as the low moves away from the region. During this time, the high to the west will strengthen over the state, restricting shower activity to areas near the coast while the inland districts experience generally clear conditions. This high will be the dominant feature through to the end of next week, when the next cold front is expected.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent parts of the ranges, more frequent along the coastal fringe between Sydney and Port Macquarie. Possibly light snow about the Barrington Tops. Fine elsewhere. Cold south to southwest winds, strong to gale force near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Saturday 11 AugustMorning frost patches about the ranges and western slopes. Isolated showers and adjacent ranges, tending scattered about the central coast, and possibly falling as snow about the Barrington Tops in the morning. The chance of showers about the far southern ranges, falling as snow above 1400 metres. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southerly winds, strong and gusty near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Sunday 12 AugustIsolated coastal showers, tending scattered about central parts of the coastal fringe, and clearing from the south later. The chance of showers about the far southern ranges, falling as snow above 1400 metres. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southerly winds, fresh near the coast.Monday 13 AugustIsolated showers on the northern half of the coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, after morning frosts about the ranges. Southerly winds along the coast, tending light and variable inland.Tuesday 14 AugustFine throughout, after morning frosts about the ranges.
