Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 7/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over New South Wales is maintaining fine and sunny weather throughout the State. A cold front near Western Australia will move into NSW late Wednesday, then progress eastwards on Thursday, with an intense low pressure system forming in the Tasman Sea by Friday. This frontal system will bring showers to the inland on Wednesday, mainly in the south, with snow falling to low levels on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges on Thursday. It is also expected to produce very cold and gusty southwesterly winds over NSW on Thursday and Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMostly sunny throughout. Light to moderate west to northwest winds, with light seabreezes on the coastal fringe.Wednesday 8 AugustIsolated showers developing across the southern inland during the afternoon and evening, becoming more widespread in the southeast and falling as snow on the Alps above 1500 metres. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early frost inland. West to northwest winds.Thursday 9 AugustCold with gusty southwesterly winds. Isolated showers west of the Divide, tending scattered and falling as snow on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges above 700 metres. Showers possibly extending to the South Coast during the day, but otherwise fine along the remainder of the coast and eastern ranges.Friday 10 AugustCold with gusty south to southwest winds. Isolated showers on the coast, more frequent on the coastal fringe. Isolated clearing showers on west slopes of the southern ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere.Saturday 11 AugustIsolated showers on the coast and adjacent ranges, tending scattered in central parts. Partly cloudy the remainder. Moderate southerly winds, fresh and gusty on the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
