A weak trough is moving through western Queensland and will clear through the southeast of Queensland this evening. The high will move eastwards into southeast Queensland during Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Fine and sunny conditions almost throughout Queensland, with just isolated showers about the east coast north of Cooktown. A cool morning with early frost areas about the central and southern interior. Light winds over the south, tending light to moderate SE to E in the tropics, fresh at time about the east coast. Forecast for Wednesday The high will move over southeast Queensland and weaken during the day, while a cold front will approach the southwest border of Queensland late in the day. Remaining fine and sunny over much of the state with only isolated showers in the northeast tropics. Another cool morning with extensive early frost over central, southern and southeast districts. Maximum temperatures will increase over the western and southern interior as winds tend NE to NW ahead of the approaching cold front. Forecast for Thursday The cold front should move eastwards through southern and western Queensland and clear off the southeast coast late in the evening. Some high cloud will move across the far south, but no precipitation is expected due to the dry airmass in place. Most of Queensland will remain fine and sunny apart from isolated light showers over the far northeast. Early morning frost is likely about the central and southern interior. Maximum temperatures should be a few degrees above average about the northwest, central interior and southeast of the state, and fire dangers will reach Very High over the southeast during the day. Cool and fresh S to SW winds will spread into southern Queensland following the passage of the cold front. Forecast for Friday The cold front should continue to move offshore and a deep low is expected to develop in the Tasman Sea. A high pressure system in the Great Australian Bight will intensify and will combine with the low in the Tasman Sea to direct fresh, dry and cold S to SW winds across the state. SW winds in the southeast of the state are likely to be fresh to strong and gusty, leading to a significant wind chill. Fine and cold across most of the state with only isolated morning showers about the far northeast of the state. Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday The low pressure system should continue to move southeastwards across the Tasman Sea during the outlook period whilst the ridge over Queensland will gradually weaken. Most of the state will remain fine and sunny throughout the period although isolated showers could affect the southern Border Ranges from Sunday and may affect the far northeast coast at times. Temperatures will remain cool throughout the outlook period with early frosts about the central and southern interior, although these should become less extensive by Monday morning. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Tuesday.
