MELBOURNE - Aug 6/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge extends across New South Wales and is producing fine and sunny weather throughout the state. A cold front developing near Western Australia will move into NSW late Wednesday, then progress eastwards on Thursday with an intense low pressure system forming in the Tasman Sea by Friday. This frontal system will bring showers to the inland on Wednesday, with snow falling to low levels on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges on Thursday. This system is also expected to produce very cold and gusty southwesterly winds over NSW on Thursday and Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMostly sunny throughout. Widespread morning frosts inland. West to northwest winds tending light and variable in the northeast.Wednesday 8 AugustIsolated showers developing across the southern inland during the afternoon, becoming more widespread during the evening and falling as snow on the Alps above 1500 metres. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early frost inland. West to northwest winds.Thursday 9 AugustCold with gusty southwesterly winds. Isolated showers west of the Divide, tending scattered and falling as snow on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges above about 900 metres during the morning, then to above about 700 metres by the evening. Showers possibly extending to the South Coast during the day, but otherwise fine along the remainder of the coast and eastern ranges.Friday 10 AugustCold with gusty southwesterly winds. Isolated showers coast and ranges, tending scattered on the coastal fringe.
