Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 6/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over South Australia will drift across New South Wales during tonight and Tuesday with a weak ridge crossing Victoria. A cold front will move through Victoria during Wednesday with a stronger cold front affecting the State on Thursday. On Friday a low pressure system will deepen over the Tasman Sea while a high pressure system will develop near the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered in the southeast, contracting to the coast this evening. Snowfalls above 1200 metres. Cool to cold with moderating westerly winds.Tuesday 7 AugustFine apart from isolated morning showers about the Gippsland coast and early frost and fog patches. A mostly sunny day, although cloud increasing in the southwest later. A mild day with moderate to fresh northwest to northerly winds, strengthening later over southwestern and elevated areas.Wednesday 8 AugustScattered showers developing from the west, more isolated over the northwest and tending to rain over the northeast ranges. Isolated thunderstorms and hail developing in the west. Showers falling as snow down to 1200 metres by evening. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with fresh to strong north to northwest wind tending west to northwesterly during the day.Thursday 9 AugustShowers on and south of the ranges with isolated showers over the northern plains although fine over the far northwest. Local hail and thunder possible and snowfalls to around 600 metres. A cold day with fresh to strong southwesterly winds extending throughout during the morning.Friday 10 AugustShowers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain areas. Snow above 700 metres during the morning before the snow retreats to above 1200 metres later. Early frost inland. A cool to cold day with a strong and gusty south to southwesterly wind moderating from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
