MELBOURNE - Aug 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ride lies over the northern New South Wales while a series of cold fronts are moving across the south. On Wednesday the ridge will weaken and a strong cold front with an associated low to the south will move through the west and and southeast. The low will deepen over the southern Tasman Sea during Thursday and Friday and move very slowly towards New Zealand as another high pressure system moves near the Bight extending a ridge across the state. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges tending scattered on the Alps and falling as snow above about 1200 metres. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Fresh westerly winds.Monday 6 AugustIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern and snow showers on the Alps. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early frost areas inland. West to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 7 AugustMostly sunny throughout. Widespread morning frosts inland. West to northwest winds tending light and variable in the northeast.Wednesday 8 AugustIsolated showers across the southern inland with snow showers on the Alps above 1500 metres. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early frost inland. West to northwest winds.Thursday 9 AugustMostly sunny in the far west, isolated showers in the remainder of the inland districts tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges and possibly extending to the south coast later. Snow showers in the south above 700 metres.
