Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A series of cold fronts will affect Victoria over the next few days. The first cold front will reach southwest Victoria tonight, but will weaken as it moves across the remainder of southern Victoria early Friday morning. A second cold front will move across the State on Saturday while yet another cold front will affect Victoria during Sunday night and early Monday. On Monday a high pressure system will develop over southern New South Wales and will extend a ridge across Victoria later in the day.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers in the far west extending eastwards to central areas at night. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Friday 3 AugustIsolated showers contracting to the southwest and eastern ranges during the day before increasing in the southwest at night. Fine in East Gippsland. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool day with cloudy periods and moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.Saturday 4 AugustScattered showers on and south of the ranges becoming isolated during the afternoon and mostly clearing at night. Isolated showers on the northern plains clearing later in the day. Snow above 1200 metres. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.Sunday 5 AugustScattered showers over the northern slopes and southwest with isolated showers elsewhere although fine over the far northwest. Snow above 1200 metres. A cool to mild day with a moderate to fresh northwesterly wind.Monday 6 AugustIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered near the coast during the morning, mostly clearing at night. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains but fine over the far northwest. Snow above 1200 metres. A cool day with a moderate to fresh westerly wind, strong at first along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
