MELBOURNE - Aug 1/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure over eastern Victoria will weaken today. A cold front to the west will reach southwest Victoria tonight, but will weaken as it moves across the remainder of southern Victoria early Friday morning. A second cold front will move across the State on Saturday while yet another cold front will approach western Victoria later on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers in East Gippsland clearing during the day. Dry elsewhere until isolated showers develop in the far west late afternoon before extending to central areas at night. Early fog and frost, mainly in the east. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with freshening north to northwesterly winds in the west.Friday 3 AugustIsolated showers contracting to the southwest and eastern ranges during the day before increasing in the southwest at night. Fine in East Gippsland. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool day with cloudy periods and moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.Saturday 4 AugustScattered showers on and south of the ranges, falling as snow above 1200 metres. Isolated showers elsewhere but remaining fine in the far northwest. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.Sunday 5 AugustIsolated showers, mainly northern slopes and southwest, increasing in the southwest later. Snow above 1200 metres.
