MELBOURNE - Aug 1/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weakening high over the eastern states will allow a series of weakening troughs to pass over southern parts of South Australia in the coming days. The first trough will move over the State on Thursday, followed by a second trough overnight Friday, and then another later on Sunday. Northern parts of South Australia will be dominated by a high pressure ridge. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. Cool with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, tending fresh north to northwesterly about western coasts.Thursday 2 AugustEarly frost inland then isolated showers developing over western and southern coasts, with possible isolated showers extending to remaining southern agricultural areas. Possible thunderstorms about the coasts, Kangaroo Island and Eyre Peninsula. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a westerly change moving over the State during the day, reaching the eastern border around midnight.Friday 3 AugustIsolated showers over the southern agricultural districts, increasing to scattered showers about southern coasts late evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh at times in the west and south.Saturday 4 AugustIsolated showers about southern agricultural areas easing and contracting southwards during the day. Showers possibly scattered at first about southern coasts. Mild inland with light winds, cool to mild about the coastal districts with moderate northwesterly winds.Sunday 5 AugustIsolated showers over southern agricultural areas and the western coast. Cool to mild. Light winds inland, tending moderate northwest to southwesterly over agricultural areas. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday evening through to midnight Sunday are expected to be less than 1 mm over the northern agricultural area and Pastoral districts, with 1 to 5 mm expected over the southern agricultural area. Isolated falls of 5 to 15 mm are possible about the Lower South East and southern coasts and ranges.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area clearing on Monday before isolated showers re-develop over agricultural areas on Wednesday.
