Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 31/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system remains in the eastern Tasman Sea. A ridge of high pressure will move over northern Victoria during Wednesday, while the main high pressure centre to the west of Tasmania weakens and slides away to the southeast. A cold front will approach southwestern Victoria from the west later on Thursday, but will weaken as it moves across southern Victoria on Friday. Another cold front will move across the State on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers in East Gippsland with small hail possible. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas, mostly clearing in the west. Showers falling as snow above 1000 metres in the east. Light to moderate southerly winds, fresh along the East Gippsland coast.Wednesday 1 AugustIsolated showers over Gippsland and the far east ranges, scattered in the east and about the coast and contracting eastwards during the day. Showers falling as snow on the ranges above 900 metres. Early morning drizzle about the central and southwest coasts. Widespread inland frosts and local morning fog elsewhere, clearing to a mainly sunny afternoon. Cool with generally light winds.Thursday 2 AugustCloud increasing from the west with isolated showers developing in the afternoon and extending to central areas later in the evening. Fine in the east apart from a shower or two clearing from East Gippsland in the morning. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with freshening north to northwesterly winds in the west.Friday 3 AugustScattered showers over the southwest and northeast, isolated showers elsewhere and contracting to the coast and east ranges by the evening. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool day with cloudy periods and a moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.Saturday 4 AugustScattered showers on and south of the ranges, falling as snow above 1200 metres. Isolated showers elsewhere but remaining fine in the far northwest. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
