Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system will meander around the eastern Tasman Sea this week. A strong high pressure system south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards towards Tasmania on Tuesday, then weaken on Wednesday as it slides southeastwards. A cold front will approach southwestern Victoria from the west later on Thursday and weaken as it moves across the State on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers in the south grading to scattered showers in East Gippsland. Snow down to 1000 metres on the eastern highlands. Clear on the northern plains. Light to moderate southerly winds, fresh and gusty over East Gippsland.Tuesday 31 JulyScattered showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern areas, mostly clearing in the west. Widespread inland morning frost and isolated fog patches about the northeast. Dry and mainly sunny over the north. A cool day with a light to moderate southerly wind.Wednesday 1 AugustIsolated showers over Gippsland, scattered in the east and about the coast, contracting eastwards during the day. Widespread inland frosts and local morning fog elsewhere, then a mainly sunny day across the north but partly cloudy in the south. Cool with generally light winds.Thursday 2 AugustCloud increasing from the west with isolated showers developing in the afternoon and extending to central areas later in the evening. Fine in the east apart from a shower or two clearing from East Gippsland in the morning. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with a freshening north to northwesterly winds in the west.Friday 3 AugustScattered showers over most districts although only isolated over the northwest and Gippsland. Showers falling as snow above 1100 metres. A cool day with cloudy periods and moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
