Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system just south of the Otways will weaken as it moves slowly northeastwards over Melbourne on Friday morning and across the northeast of the State Friday afternoon. Another low pressure system will develop over the Tasman Sea Friday night, while a cold front will move up from the south to clip southern Victoria later Saturday. A strong high pressure system will develop south of the Bight during Sunday and move slowly eastwards towards Tasmania on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers over most districts, tending to rain areas about the ranges and central areas tonight. Remaining fine over Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the west and south. Snow above 1100 metres. Mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds, tending southwest in the southwest.Friday 27 JulyAreas of rain across central and northeastern districts, easing to isolated showers during the afternoon and clearing from the northwest. Scattered showers persisting in the south although only isolated over Gippsland. Snow above 1100 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds in the west, extending throughout by the evening.Saturday 28 JulyIsolated showers, more extensive about the coast. Snowfalls above 1100 metres. Cool to cold with moderate west to southwest wind, fresh along the coast.Sunday 29 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges, more extensive about the coast. Snowfalls above 1000 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southwest winds.Monday 30 JulyEarly morning fogs inland. Isolated showers in the south, mainly about the southwest and Gippsland coasts. A cool to cold and cloudy day in the south, mainly sunny in the northwest.
