MELBOURNE - Jul 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system south of Kangaroo Island is moving eastwards and will move over the Lower South East district overnight. Weak fronts will move over coastal parts on Thursday and Saturday. A high to the west of WA will move slowly eastwards to be centred southwest of the Bight on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and the south of the Pastoral districts, scattered over the southern agricultural area. Possible thunderstorms over the southern agricultural area, contracting to the South East district in the evening. Cool to cold with fresh to strong northwest to southwest winds, possibly strong to gale force about parts of the southern agricultural area.Thursday 26 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area and remaining parts south of Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek. Showers increasing to scattered over the southern agricultural area. Possible thunderstorms near southern and western coasts. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong at times near southern and western coasts.Friday 27 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered during the morning near southern coasts and ranges. Cool to cold with moderate southwesterly winds.Saturday 28 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area. Cool with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Sunday 29 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area, contracting southwards in the evening. Cool with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm over the southern parts of the pastoral districts, 2 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area, 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area. 15 to 25 mm are expected over southern coasts and ranges with possible local falls of 30 mm.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers near southern coasts, clearing later Tuesday. Cold mornings with early frost and fog patches.
