MELBOURNE - Jul 24/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving low is situated over the eastern Tasman Sea, while a high centred over southeast Australia extends a ridge over most of New South Wales. This high will continue to move eastwards during tonight, contracting any shower activity to northern and central coastal districts. A cold front will cross western New South Wales Wednesday afternoon, reaching the east of the state on Thursday morning. An upper level trough will then move through the state Thursday and Friday ahead of another high pressure ridge developing during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers on the north and central coasts. Fine elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds near the coast, light and variable winds inland.Wednesday 25 JulyIsolated showers developing in the southwest of the state, increasing later in the day and falling as snow above about 1400 metres on the southern ranges. Northwest to northeast winds, turning westerly in the west.Thursday 26 JulyIsolated showers in the southwestern and central parts, more widespread on the western slopes and falling as snow above 1200 metres on the southern ranges. West to northwest winds.Friday 27 JulyPossible isolated showers apart from east of the ranges, more likely throughout central inland areas. West to southwest winds.Saturday 28 JulyIsolated showers and drizzle on the southwest and central slopes, falling as snow above 1300 metres. Fine elsewhere.
