MELBOURNE - Jul 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred over far eastern Victoria will move slowly northeastwards to be located off the NSW central coast on Tuesday. A cold front will cross the Bight to affect western Victoria on Wednesday afternoon before reaching the east on Thursday morning and an associated low pressure system will pass just south of the State on Wednesday night. An upper level trough will cross Victoria on Thursday then another cold front will cross southern Victoria on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine. Cloud areas over the west but mostly clear across the remainder with light winds.Tuesday 24 JulyMorning frost and fog areas in the east then fine. A cool day with cloud increasing in the west. Light to moderate northerly winds.Wednesday 25 JulyIsolated showers developing over western districts in the morning then extending eastwards to reach most areas in the afternoon, although generally remaining fine over Gippsland. The showers becoming more extensive in the southwest and along the dividing range and falling as snow down to about 1300 metres in the evening. A cool to cold and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northerly winds, locally strong in the south then turning west to northwesterly in the west later in the day.Thursday 26 JulyScattered showers over most districts, although more isolated across East Gippsland and the far northwest and falling as snow above 1100 metres. A cool to cold and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.Friday 27 JulyIsolated showers affecting most regions, falling as snow above 1100 metres.
