MELBOURNE - Jul 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will develop over South Australia during Thursday, extending a ridge across northern Victoria. A weak cold front will move across Bass Strait on Friday then the high will move slowly southeastwards to lie just west of Victoria on Saturday. The high will gradually cross Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers contracting to the coast this evening. The chance of hail or thunder near the South Gippsland coast. Cold with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, becoming light inland.Thursday 19 JulyWidespread morning frost in the north along with patchy fog. Isolated showers near the coast during the morning and over the southwest in the afternoon. A mostly sunny day across the north and east. Cool to cold with light to moderate northwest to westerly winds.Friday 20 JulyIsolated showers developing near and south of the ranges, scattered about the southwest coast. Local early frost or fog in the northeast. Generally cool and partly cloudy with light to moderate west to northwesterly wind, tending southwesterly.Saturday 21 JulyFine apart from isolated showers in the far east and morning fog patches. Local morning frost in the northeast. A cool day with generally light winds.Sunday 22 JulyMorning frost and fog patches inland. Isolated clearing showers in the far east.
