MELBOURNE - Jul 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over far southwest Victoria will slide away southeastwards across Bass Strait overnight. A second cold front is expected to cross southern Victoria on Wednesday then a high pressure ridge will extend across S.A. to northern Victoria on Thursday. Another cold front will move across Bass Strait on Friday, just brushing the coast, then a high pressure system will move over the State on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers or drizzle patches over the northeast, mostly about the ranges and falling as snow above 1600 metres. Scattered showers extending over the southwest, reaching central districts overnight. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind.Wednesday 18 JulyScattered showers affecting most districts. Snow showers lowering to 1000 metres. Isolated hail in the south and possible thunder near the southwest and central coasts. Cool to cold with moderate west to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Thursday 19 JulyWidespread morning frost. Local fog about the ranges and over the northeast, otherwise fine during the morning apart from a clearing shower about the Gippsland coast. Isolated showers developing over the southwest during the afternoon and evening. Cool to cold with light to moderate westerly winds.Friday 20 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges falling as snow above 1600 metres. Generally cool with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Saturday 21 JulyFine apart from isolated showers in the far east.
