Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system, currently centred near New South Wales coast, will move east over the western Tasman Sea towards New Zealand during Tuesday. A cold front will move east across Victoria and the southern parts of New South Wales during Wednesday. The front will be followed by another high pressure system moving over the Bight on Wednesday. A trough of low pressure will develop off the northern New South Wales coast during Thursday and deepen into a low by late Friday as another front moves through the south of the state. The low is expected to remain in the Tasman Sea for a few days.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayChance of isolated showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges, falling as snow about the higher Alpine peaks. Possible showers also along the far north coast and to the west near the Queensland border. Mostly clear remainder. North to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 18 JulyAreas of morning fog and frost, mainly in the east. Partly cloudy in the northwest. Showers developing in the south and in the northeast, falling as snow about the Alps above 1600 metres. The chance of thunderstorms in the northern inland and on the far north coast. Northwest to southwest winds.Thursday 19 JulyAreas of morning fog and frost. Isolated showers on the coastal fringe and the northeastern inland, tending scattered on the north and central coasts. Possible showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Fine elsewhere. South to southwesterly winds.Friday 20 JulyIsolated showers on the north coast and possibly in the far south of the state. Fine elsewhere. South to southwesterly winds.Saturday 21 JulyIsolated showers on the coast except in the far south, tending scattered on the central and mid north coasts and possibly extending to the east of the northern ranges. Fine in the remainder. South to southeast winds, fresh to strong along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
