Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front moving across the Bight will reach southwestern Victoria later this afternoon and then slide away southeastwards across east Bass Strait overnight Tuesday. A second cold front is expected to cross southern Victoria on Wednesday then a high pressure ridge will extend across S.A. to northern Victoria on Thursday. Another cold front will move across Bass Strait on Friday, just brushing the coast.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayMostly cloudy with isolated showers or drizzle patches over the northeast, mostly about the ranges and falling as snow above 1600 metres. Scattered showers developing across the southwest during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with a moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind.Wednesday 18 JulyScattered showers affecting most districts. Snow showers in Alpine areas lowering to 1100 metres. Isolated hail and thunder near the southwest and central coasts. Cool to cold with moderate north to northwest wind turning southwesterly.Thursday 19 JulyWidespread morning frost. Local fog about the ranges and over the northeast, otherwise fine during the morning apart from a clearing shower about the Gippsland coast. Isolated showers developing over the southwest during the afternoon and evening. Cool to cold with light to moderate westerly winds.Friday 20 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges falling as snow above 1600 metres. Generally cool with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
