MELBOURNE - Jul 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front approaching the Bight will slide southeastwards across Bass Strait late Tuesday with another front expected to cross Victoria on Wednesday. A high pressure ridge will extend across northern Victoria on Thursday with yet another front to cross southern Victoria on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered light showers or drizzle over the northeast and central ranges. Isolated showers elsewhere clearing tonight. Snow falls about the Alpine peaks above 1700 metres. Morning fog and drizzle patches about the ranges. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.Tuesday 17 JulyIsolated showers or drizzle patches over the northeast, mostly about the ranges and falling as snow above 1600 metres. Scattered showers entering the southwest during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with a moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind.Wednesday 18 JulyScattered showers affecting most districts. Snow showers in Alpine areas lowering to 1100 metres. Isolated hail and thunder near the southwest and central coasts. Cool to cold with moderate north to northwest wind turning southwesterly.Thursday 19 JulyWidespread morning frost. Local fog about the ranges and over the northeast, otherwise fine during the morning apart from a clearing shower about the Gippsland coast. Isolated showers developing over the southwest during the afternoon and evening. Cool to cold with light to moderate westerly winds.Friday 20 JulyIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges falling as snow above 1600 metres.
