MELBOURNE - Jul 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over central Australia will drift across northern New South Wales today before accelerating over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A cold front will cross Bight waters on Tuesday and will be weakening as it moves across Victoria on Wednesday. A high pressure ridge will extend across northern Victoria on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers over all but the far northwest and far southeast, scattered in the southwest and about the eastern ranges, then mostly clearing this evening. Snow falls about the Alpine peaks above 1700 metres. Morning fog and drizzle patches about the ranges. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.Tuesday 17 JulyIsolated showers or drizzle about the northeast ranges and developing later over the southwest. Snow on Alpine peaks above 1600 metres. Fine elsewhere. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with a moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind.Wednesday 18 JulyScattered showers developing from the west. Snow showers in Alpine areas lowering to 1100 metres. Cool to cold with moderate north to northwest wind turning southwesterly.Thursday 19 JulyLocal morning frost and fog in the north. Isolated clearing showers in the east but isolated showers persisting in the southwest.
