MELBOURNE - Jul 14/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over western Victoria will move eastwards across the remainder of the State tonight. A cold front will move across Tasmania during Sunday. A high pressure system developing over central Australia will drift across northern New South Wales on Sunday night and Monday before accelerating over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A cold front will cross Bight waters on Tuesday before affecting western Victoria on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers clearing from the northwest later in the evening. The chance of thunderstorms over central and eastern districts at first this evening. Snowfalls down to 1000 metres. Cool to cold and and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds shifting west to southwesterly from the west.Sunday 15 JulyScattered showers about the northeast ranges and in the far southwest. Isolated showers in remaining areas except the far northwest where conditions remain fine. Snow above 1100 metres contracting above 1500 metres by the evening. Early frost patches inland. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, strong about the exposed coast.Monday 16 JulyIsolated showers, mostly over southern and mountain areas, scattered in the southwest. Snow about the Alpine peaks. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.Tuesday 17 JulyIsolated showers about the northeast ranges and developing later over the southwest. Fine elsewhere. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with a moderate to fresh north to northwesterly wind.Wednesday 18 JulyIsolated to scattered showers developing from the west but remaining dry over East Gippsland. Snow showers in Alpine areas lowering to 1200 metres.
