MELBOURNE - Jul 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough just southwest of Victoria will move eastwards across the State during Saturday and early Sunday. A cold front will move across Bass Strait during Sunday while a high pressure ridge moves over New South Wales. The ridge will remain over New South Wales on Monday. A cold front will approach southwestern Victoria later on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMorning fog patches in Gippsland. Scattered showers, becoming more widespread in the southwest and about the ranges during the day, then easing from the northwest this evening. Local hail and thunder developing today, then clearing eastwards during the afternoon and evening. Snowfalls down to 1000 metres. A cool to cold and and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds gradually shifting west to southwesterly from the west.Sunday 15 JulyScattered showers about the northeast ranges and southwest and Gippsland coasts. Isolated showers elsewhere though remaining dry over the northwest. Snow above 900 metres contracting above 1500 metres by the evening. Early frost patches inland. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Monday 16 JulyIsolated showers near southern and mountain areas, scattered in the southwest. Snow about the Alpine peaks. Early frost patches inland. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 17 JulyIsolated showers about the northeast ranges and developing later over the southwest. Fine elsewhere.
