MELBOURNE - Jul 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low 1006 hPa near Mount Gambier extends a trough of low pressure to Whyalla. The low will move over western Bass Strait and the trough across the southeast of the State this morning. A cold front will move eastwards south of the State on Sunday and a high pressure ridge will develop over the north of the state over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area, west coast and south of the Pastoral districts, tending scattered about the southern agricultural area and the Flinders Ranges south of Hawker during the morning. Possible isolated thunderstorms with small hail in a band north of Murray Bridge and south of Hawker, clearing later in the afternoon. Cool to cold with light to moderate northwest in the east, turning moderate to fresh west to southwest throughout during the morning.Sunday 15 JulyIsolated showers over the west coast and southern agricultural area, increasing to scattered about southern coasts and the South East. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds in the south, strong about southern coasts. Light and variable winds in the north.Monday 16 JulyIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area, increasing to scattered about the Lower South East coast in the afternoon. Cool with generally light to moderate northerly winds.Tuesday 17 JulyIsolated showers developing about the west coast during the morning, and extending to remaining parts of the West Coast and southern agricultural area during the day. Cool to mild with light to moderate northerly winds, shifting southwesterly in the west. Accumulated rainfall amounts from Saturday morning through to midnight Tuesday are expected to be 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area and south of the Flinders Ranges, reaching 10 to 15 mm about southern coasts and ranges, 2 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area and up to 2 mm over the south of the Pastorals.Wednesday until FridayIsolated showers extending to the remainder of the agricultural area and southern parts of the Pastoral districts on Wednesday, then contracting to the West Coast and agricultural area on Thursday and Friday. Cool to mild with generally light to moderate northerly winds in the east, shifting southwesterly throughout on Wednesday.
