Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad complex low will move to the south of the state today and tomorrow. Associated frontal system and a rain band will move across the region today, contracting to the northeast on Saturday and clearing on Sunday morning. Following this, a vigorous westerly airstream will develop to the south of New South Wales with embedded cold fronts affecting the southern ranges and slopes during the weekend. A high is forecast to extend a ridge across from the west on the weekend, restoring fine weather to most parts of New South Wales by Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the northeast with moderate falls for the North West Slopes and Plains. Isolated showers about the western slopes of the central and southern ranges with snow about the higher Alpine peaks lowering to 1500 metres. North to northwesterly winds turning westerly.Saturday 14 JulyRain areas in the far northeast, easing. Isolated showers over the southern inland, tending scattered about the western slopes of the ranges. Snow showers on the southern ranges above 1400 metres lowering to 1000 metres by the evening. Fine elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds.Sunday 15 JulyShowers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges easing, and isolated early showers about the far northeast. Snow on the southern ranges above about 1000 metres at first, retreating to higher levels during the day, and possible early snow on the central ranges above 1200 metres. Fine elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds.Monday 16 JulyGenerally fine and mostly sunny after early fog and frost patches. Light winds.Tuesday 17 JulyGenerally fine and mostly sunny after early fog and frost patches. Light winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Saturday.Product IDN10031
