Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system near New Zealand is moving slowly east, maintaining a ridge to southeast Queensland. A trough and associated cold front is set to bring a rain band across the region during Thursday and Friday. Following this, the next high is forecast to extend a ridge across from the west on the weekend, restoring fine weather to most parts of New South Wales.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain, more widespread west of the ranges with isolated thunderstorms. North to northwesterly winds.Friday 13 JulyFine and mostly sunny conditions in the far west. Rain areas and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere, contracting to the northeast. Some moderate falls about the western slopes of the northern ranges. Snow about the higher Alpine peaks, lowering to 1500 metres in the evening. North to northwesterly winds turning west to southwesterly, fresh to strong over the northern ranges.Saturday 14 JulyRain areas in the far northeast, easing. Isolated showers over the southern inland, tending scattered about the western slopes of the ranges. Snow showers on the southern ranges above 1400 metres lowering to 1000 metres by the evening. Fine elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds.Sunday 15 JulyShowers about the western slopes of the southern ranges and in the far northeast, easing. Snow on the southern ranges above about 1000 metres, retreating to higher levels. Fine elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds.Monday 16 JulyFine and mostly sunny after early fog and frost patches.
