MELBOURNE - Jul 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure near Port Neill to Kingscote will continue to move eastwards across the remainder of the state during today. A second trough will move over the south of the state on Friday and Saturday morning. A high pressure ridge will develop over the north of the state over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine north of Coober Pedy. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere. Showers increasing to scattered and isolated thunderstorms over the agricultural area and the West Coast. Generally cool with moderate northerly winds shifting moderate to fresh southwesterly from the west.Friday 13 JulyScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms with possible small hail extending over the West Coast during the morning, and extending to the southern agricultural area during the day. Isolated showers over the remainder of the northern agricultural area. Isolated showers in the far northeast of the State. Cool to cold with moderate southwest to northwesterly winds, freshening in the south during the day.Saturday 14 JulyIsolated showers over the agricultural area and the West Coast district, contracting to the coast during the evening. Scattered showers about the southern agricultural area during the morning. Cool with moderate west to southwesterly winds.Sunday 15 JulyIsolated showers over the west coast and southern agricultural area, increasing to scattered about southern coasts and the South East. Cool with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds in the south, and light and variable winds in the north.Monday 16 JulyIsolated showers south of about Port Neill to Keith. Cool with generally light to moderate northerly winds. Accumulated rainfall amounts from Thursday afternoon through to midnight Monday are expected to be 10 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area and east of the ranges, and up to 2 mm elsewhere. Local falls of 15 to 30 mm are possible about southern coasts and ranges. Local falls of 10 to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers about the coast extending over the West Coast and southern agricultural area on Tuesday and to the remainder of the agricultural area and southern parts of the pastoral districts. Cool to mild with generally light to moderate northerly winds shifting southwesterly in the west on Tuesday and throughout on Wednesday.
