Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system south of Adelaide will move eastwards to be just southwest of Victoria by Thursday evening, while an associated trough will enter the west of the state. The low pressure system will move across Bass Strait to be east of Tasmania by Friday evening, followed by another low and an associated upper level trough moving across the State on Saturday. A ridge will move over New South Wales on Sunday, while a cold front will move across Bass Strait.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers over most districts, tending to rain areas on and north of the ranges. Isolated thunderstorms in the north and west, contracting to the northeast during the afternoon and evening. Cool and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Friday 13 JulyRain areas over the northeast, easing to showers during the morning. Scattered showers elsewhere in the south becoming more widespread over the southwest during the day. Only isolated showers extending to the northwest and east Gippsland. Snowfalls about the Alpine peaks, lowering to around 1000 metres in the west during the day. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, tending southwesterly in the west.Saturday 14 JulyScattered showers, more widespread about the southwest and northeast. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail, mainly near and south of the Divide. Snow down to 900m. A cool to cold and and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh westerly winds.Sunday 15 JulyIsolated showers about the northeast ranges falling as snow above 900m, contracting above 1500m by the evening. Isolated showers over the southwest and west Gippsland coast, otherwise fine. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh westerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
