Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system developing in the Bight will move closer to Victoria on Thursday with an associated trough moving into western districts during the afternoon and evening. The low pressure complex will deepen a little on Friday and move into the Tasman Sea on Saturday as an upper level trough moves across the State. A ridge will move over New South Wales on Sunday with a cold front passing to the south of Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers about the northeast ranges and about the central coast, mostly clearing this evening. Fine elsewhere. Mostly cloudy with moderate north to northwesterly winds.Thursday 12 JulyScattered showers over most districts, becoming widespread in the north during the afternoon and evening and tending to rain at times. Only isolated showers over Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms in the north and west during the afternoon contracting to the northeast during the evening. Snow possible above 1600m at first. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Friday 13 JulyRain areas over the northeast at first easing to showers during the morning. Scattered showers elsewhere in the south becoming more widespread over the southwest during the day. Only isolated showers extending to the northwest and east Gippsland. Snowfalls about the Alpine peaks, lowering to around 1000 metres in the west during the day. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, tending southwesterly in the west.Saturday 14 JulyScattered showers. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail, mainly near and south of the Divide. Snow down to 900m. A cool to cold and and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh westerly winds.Sunday 15 JulyIsolated showers about the northeast ranges falling as snow above 900m, contracting above 1500m by the evening. Isolated showers over the southwest and west Gippsland coast, otherwise fine. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh westerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
