MELBOURNE - Jul 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system near New Zealand is moving slowly east, while a trough of low pressure which brought widespread rain to New South Wales is now decaying over the state's northeast. A second trough and associated cold front is set to bring another rain band across the region during Thursday and Friday. Following this, the next high is forecast to extend a ridge across from the west on the weekend, restoring fine weather to most parts of New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers across the northeast. The chance of showers about the southern ranges and western slopes, falling as snow about the higher Alpine peaks. Northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong about exposed parts of the tablelands.Thursday 12 JulyRain areas developing throughout, more widespread across the northern inland and on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow about the higher Alpine peaks. The chance of isolated thunderstorms in the west. North to northwesterly winds, fresh to strong about the exposed parts of the northern ranges.Friday 13 JulyFine and mostly sunny conditions in the far west. Rain areas elsewhere, contracting northeast and easing. Snow about the higher Alpine peaks, lowering to 1500 metres in the evening. The chance of isolated thunderstorms over the northern inland. North to northwesterly winds turning west to southwesterly, fresh to strong over the northern ranges.Saturday 14 JulyIsolated showers in the southern inland and in the far northeast, easing. Snow showers on the southern ranges above 1400 metres lowering to 1000 metres by the evening. Fine elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds.Sunday 15 JulyIsolated showers in the southern inland and in the far northeast, easing in the northeast. Snow on the southern ranges above 1000 metres. Fine elsewhere.
