Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system west of Tasmania will move southeastwards and weaken as it passes south of Tasmania on Wednesday. Another low pressure system and associated trough is expected to slowly approach Victoria from the west during Wednesday and Thursday. The low will gradually move eastwards across Bass Strait and Tasmania on Friday and Saturday as a cold front approaches.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers and drizzle in most southern and mountain areas, contracting to the northeast and far southwest during the afternoon and becoming isolated. Fine in the northwest. Snowfalls above 1500 metres. Cool and partly cloudy with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Thursday 12 JulyScattered showers over most districts, becoming widespread about the northeast, although only isolated showers possible over Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms in the north and west. Snow contracting to the Alpine peaks. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Friday 13 JulyScattered showers, mainly over the northeast and southwest. Isolated showers elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms in the west. Snowfalls about the Alpine peaks, lowering to around 1000 metres during the day. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, tending southwesterly in the west.Saturday 14 JulyScattered showers over the eastern ranges, isolated showers elsewhere, clearing from the northwest during the afternoon. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
