Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the eastern Tasman Sea is moving slowly away from Australia, while a broad trough of low pressure is situated over western New South Wales. Within this trough, a low will continue to deepen over Victoria and Bass Straight tonight as it moves further to the east, accompanied by widespread rain. During Wednesday the trough is expected to move offshore and weaken, although the clearing will be short-lived. A second trough, and an associated cold front, is forecast to bring another rain band across New South Wales during Thursday and Friday. Following this, the next high should extend a ridge across from the west, restoring fine conditions to most districts as it strengthens through the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPartly cloudy in the far west. Cloudy in the northeast with the chance of showers, mainly along the coastal fringe. Rain areas elsewhere, widespread rain west of the Divide with the chance of thunderstorms. Snow about the Alps above 1700 metres. North to northeasterly winds, locally fresh and gusty, turning west to northwesterly in the west.Wednesday 11 JulyMostly fine in the western half. Rain areas elsewhere, more widespread over the northeastern inland, clearing from the southwest during the morning. Snow about the Alps above 1500 metres. The chance of thunderstorms in central parts. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Thursday 12 JulyRain areas extending throughout, more widespread across the northern inland and on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow about the higher Alpine peaks. North to northwesterly winds.Friday 13 JulyFine and partly cloudy in the far west. Rain areas elsewhere, contracting northeast and easing. Snow about the higher Alpine peaks. North to northwesterly winds turning west to southwesterly.Saturday 14 JulyIsolated showers in the southeastern inland and in the far northeast. Snow about the higher Alpine peaks. Fine elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
