MELBOURNE - Jul 8/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is drifting towards New Zealand. A low pressure trough over the Bight will approach Victoria from the west during Monday then will cross the State on Tuesday. The next cold front and associated trough will approach western Victoria late Wednesday then will cross the State on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayFine apart from isolated fogs redeveloping in the east tonight.Monday 9 JulyEarly morning fog and frost in the east. Scattered showers developing over the northwest and increasing to rain overnight. Isolated showers extending to remaining central and western districts. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds.Tuesday 10 JulyRain areas, more widespread and locally heavy in the north central and northeast districts and falling as snow about the Alpine peaks. Rain tending to showers over the northwest during the afternoon with possible thunderstorms to follow. Only isolated showers extending to East Gippsland. A cool and cloudy day with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 11 JulyScattered showers at first over the northeast and during the day about the southwest coast but only isolated showers possible elsewhere. Snow showers above 1300 metres. Cool with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Thursday 12 JulyScattered showers over most districts, widespread about the northeast and falling as snow above 1700 metres.
