MELBOURNE - Jul 7/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system over eastern Victoria will drift eastwards across the Tasman Sea during Sunday. A low pressure trough will approach Victoria from the west during Monday then will cross the State on Tuesday. The next cold front will approach western Victoria late Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine tonight apart from isolated fog patches developing in the east. Generally light winds.Sunday 8 JulyEarly frost, locally severe in the north. Morning fog patches, mainly in the east, otherwise a fine day. Mainly sunny in the east, but high cloud increasing over the west. Generally cool with light to moderate northerly winds, fresh at times near the ranges.Monday 9 JulyEarly morning fog and frost in the east. Scattered showers developing over the northwest and increasing to rain overnight. Isolated showers extending to remaining central and western districts. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds.Tuesday 10 JulyRain areas, more widespread in the north and northeast, falling as snow about the Alpine peaks. Only isolated showers extending to East Gippsland. A cool and cloudy day with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 11 JulyScattered showers at first over the northeast then late in the day over the southwest. Only isolated showers expected elsewhere, although mostly dry over Gippsland. Snow showers above 1300 metres.
