Innisfail.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system over South Australia will strengthen during the
next few days and move slowly eastwards. This high will extend a firm ridge
across most of Queensland until late in the week.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Isolated showers over the far northeast of the state. Fine and mostly clear
elsewhere. Moderate to fresh SW to SE winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers about the far northeast of the state, north of about Cairns
with possible thunderstorms through Torres Strait. Fine and mostly sunny
elsewhere. A cool to cold morning in most parts with widespread frosts over
central and southern Queensland and possibly on the Atherton Tablelands to the
west of Cairns. Moderate SE to SW winds, fresh at times in the west and also
about the east coast north of Bowen. Winds will remain strong about the
southeast Gulf of Carpentaria and along the east coast north of Innisfail.
Forecast for Wednesday
The large high pressure system will continue to strengthen and remain
slow-moving in the eastern Great Australian Bight with a firm ridge persisting
across southern Queensland. Dry air will remain in place over much of the state,
leading to a fine, cool and mostly sunny day. Isolated light showers will
continue about the far northeast of the state with thunderstorms in the Torres
Strait. A gradually moistening southerly flow about the far southeast may lead
to a light shower or two about Fraser Island. Strong winds are likely to
continue about the coastal waters north of Cardwell and in the southeast Gulf of
Carpentaria. A cool to cold morning in most parts with widespread frosts over
central and southern Queensland and possibly on the Atherton Tablelands to the
west of Cairns.
Forecast for Thursday
The large high will move east into Victoria and continue to strengthen
slightly, with a firm ridge remaining in place over most of Queensland. Fine and
clear conditions will remain over most of the state under the influence of the
dry, cool and stable airmass. However, the S to SE flow onto the east coast will
gradually gain in moisture and produce isolated showers along exposed parts of
the east coast and islands with the assistance of an upper level trough. Strong
S to SE winds will continue about the southeast Gulf of Carpentaria and about
the east coast north of Cardwell. A cool to cold morning in most parts with
widespread frosts over central and southern Queensland and possibly on the
Atherton Tablelands to the west of Cairns.
Forecast for Friday
The high pressure will remain over southeast Australia with an increasingly
moist flow about the east coast that may lead to one or two showers about
exposed parts of the east coast. An upper trough will move through the southeast
of the state leading to showers about coastal parts south of Fraser Island.
Isolated showers will continue about the far northeast of the state. Strong S to
SE winds will continue about the southeast Gulf of Carpentaria and about the
east coast north of Bowen. A cool to cold morning in most parts with widespread
frosts over central and southern Queensland and possibly on the Atherton
Tablelands to the west of Cairns.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
The high will move slowly east into the Tasman Sea during the forecast period
while gradually weakening. The high will continue to direct mostly dry S to SE
winds across the state, with fine conditions continuing in most areas. However,
the flow will gradually tend more onshore along the east coast during the
period, with isolated showers gradually extending further inland. A weak trough
is likely to move into the west of the state on Monday with isolated showers
developing over much of the state. Frosts will continue to be widespread over
much of the interior on Saturday but are likely to be confined to the Granite
Belt by Sunday morning as moisture and cloud increases.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Tuesday.
