MELBOURNE - Jun 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system just southwest of Victoria will drift slowly eastwards across Tasmania during the weekend then out over the Tasman Sea on Monday. A weak cold front will cross southern Victoria early on Tuesday with a large high pressure system moving south of Adelaide. The high will remain just to the west of Victoria on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers with local hail and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over southern and mountain areas, becoming more isolated this evening. Snowfalls down to 900 metres. Partly cloudy with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds tending west to southwesterly in the west.Sunday 1 JulyScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, more widespread near the west coast and extending to the central coast and West Gippsland during the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers developing on the northern plains. Local hail and thunder in the south. Snow above 900 metres. Local early frost in the north and east then a cold and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Monday 2 JulyShowers in southern and mountain areas becoming more isolated in the west. Isolated showers reaching some northern areas but fine over the far north. Snow above 1100 metres. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Tuesday 3 JulyIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered near the coast. Snow above 1100 metres. Mainly dry on the northern plains with just the chance of light afternoon showers. Early inland frost then a cool to cold with moderate southwest to southerly winds.Wednesday 4 July Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered in the far east. Snow above 1200 metres. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. Early inland frost then a cool to cold day with moderate south to southwesterly winds.
