Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system southwest of Victoria will drift slowly eastwards across Tasmania during the weekend then out over the Tasman Sea on Monday. A weak cold front will cross southern Victoria early on Tuesday with a large high pressure system moving south of Adelaide. The high will remain just to the west of Victoria on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers with local hail, mainly over southern and mountain areas, more widespread about the southwest coast. Snowfalls down to 1000 metres. Isolated thunderstorms possible over western and central regions, mainly in the afternoon. Local morning fog patches in the east. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds shifting west to southwesterly in the west.Sunday 1 JulyScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, more widespread near the west and central coast and extending into West and South Gippsland. Isolated showers on the northern plains. Local hail and thunder in central and southeastern areas. Snow above 900 metres. A cold day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Monday 2 JulyShowers in southern and mountain areas becoming more isolated in the west. Isolated showers reaching some northern areas but fine over the far northwest. Snow above 1100 metres. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Tuesday 3 JulyIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered near the coast. Mainly dry on the northern plains with just the chance of light afternoon showers. Cool to cold with moderate southwest to southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
