Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 27/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system just east of Victoria will move slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea. A cold front will approach from the west during Thursday before slipping southwards. A low pressure system is expected to be located southwest of Tasmania by late Friday, an associated trough looks likely to move eastwards across Victoria during Saturday and Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPartly cloudy with light winds tending northerly.Thursday 28 JuneWidespread early frost and patchy morning fog in Gippsland. Local early frost elsewhere. Isolated showers developing about the ranges and the southwest, falling as snow above 1600 metres. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with moderate northerly winds becoming fresh and gusty over elevated areas and the southwest.Friday 29 JuneScattered showers extending across the state apart from the far southeast. Showers tending more isolated over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms and hail possible in the southwest. Snowfalls lowering to 1200 metres by late in the day. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, locally strong about the ranges.Saturday 30 JuneScattered showers and local hail in southern and mountain districts with isolated showers extending to the northern plains in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 800 metres. Isolated thunderstorms near the coast. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds shifting west to southwesterly from the west.Sunday 1 JulyScattered showers and local hail in southern and mountain districts. Showers falling as snow above 900 metres. Isolated thunderstorms near the coast.
