Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 27/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deepening low pressure trough lies off the NSW north coast/southern Queensland coast while a strong high lies just east of the NSW south coast. The high will move slowly east across the central Tasman Sea over the next couple of days while a relatively weak low develops off the southern Queensland coast then moves only slowly east. During Friday and Saturday a cold front will cross much of NSW as an associated low pressure system south of the Bight moves east to Tasmania. On Sunday computer guidance suggests that another, stronger cold front will cross the southeastern third or so of NSW with strong, cold southwest winds and snow possible to quite low levels associated.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers over the remainder of the northeast. Fine remainder. Southeast winds in the northeast, fresh to strong along the far north coast. Northeast winds remainder. Dangerous surf conditions, easing from the south.Thursday 28 JuneRain areas on the far north coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers over much of the remainder of the northeast and developing about the western slopes of the southern ranges later. Partly cloudy remainder. Early frost patches about the southern ranges. Early fog patches, mostly in the southeast. Southeasterly winds in the northeast, fresh along the far north coast. Northwest to northeast winds remainder. Dangerous surf conditions in the north.Friday 29 JuneScattered showers on the far north coast, easing. Isolated showers over the southern inland, tending scattered about the western slopes of the ranges with snow lowering to about 1400 metres. Isolated showers possible also about the northern ranges and adjacent western slopes. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Early fog patches, mostly in the east. Southerly winds on the far north coast. West to northwest winds remainder, freshening in the south.Saturday 30 JuneIsolated showers over the southern and central inland, tending scattered about the western slopes of the southern ranges with snow lowering to about 900 metres later. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to northwest winds, fresh in the south.Sunday 1 JulyIsolated showers about the southeastern third of the state, tending scattered about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges with snow to about the 800 metre level. Partly cloudy remainder. Colder, fresh and gusty west to southwest winds extending through most districts, strong in the southeast third.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
