MELBOURNE - Jun 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation The tail end of a cold front is crossing the ranges and will be north of Victoria tonight. A strong high pressure system approaching from the west will move over western Bass Strait on Tuesday before being located just east of Victoria on Wednesday. Another cold front will approach from the west during Thursday before slipping southwards. A low pressure system is expected to be located southwest of Tasmania by late Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers near the ranges tending more isolated elsewhere although remaining dry over the Mallee. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. South to southwesterly winds over the south extending to the north tonight.Tuesday 26 JuneAreas of morning frost inland and morning fog patches over the east. Isolated showers clearing from the far east and falling as snow above 1100 metres. Otherwise a fine and mostly sunny day. Cool with light south to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 27 JuneWidespread areas of morning frost, locally severe in the north and east. Isolated morning fog patches over the east. A fine and mostly sunny day. Cool with light winds tending northerly.Thursday 28 JuneLocal early frost in the east. Isolated showers about the eastern ranges. Isolated showers developing in the southwest and becoming more widespread with the chance of a local thunderstorm near the southwestern coast later in the day. A cool to mild day with moderate northerly winds becoming fresh and gusty over elevated areas in the afternoon.Friday 29 JuneIsolated showers extending across the state apart from the far southeast. Showers tending more widespread near the ranges and over the southwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the south.
