MELBOURNE - Jun 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation The northern tip of a cold front is crossing Bass Strait this morning and another front is expected to cross the strait and southern Victoria on Monday. A strong high pressure system will approach from the west later on Monday then move over western Victoria on Tuesday and to be just east of the State on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers over southern and mountain areas and isolated showers reaching some northern areas but remaining dry in the far northwest. Snowfalls in Alpine regions above 1400 metres. A cool to cold and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong about the Gippsland coast.Monday 25 JuneScattered showers in southern areas, isolated elsewhere then mostly clearing overnight. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds shifting southerly later.Tuesday 26 JuneMorning fog and frost patches across the north. Fine apart from isolated showers over Gippsland, falling as snow above 1300 metres. Cool to cold with light southerly winds.Wednesday 27 JuneWidespread areas of morning fog and frost. Fine apart from the chance of a shower about the central coast.
