MELBOURNE - Jun 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southern WA extends a ridge over the state. The high is expected to move slowly eastwards to a position over the state on Sunday, then remain near stationary until moving over the eastern states later on Tuesday, and into the Tasman sea on Wednesday. A cold front will move over southern parts of the state later on Monday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and West Coast district. Generally cool to cold with light to moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, moderate to fresh near southern coasts.Sunday 24 JuneIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and West Coast district. Early morning fog, chiefly over the northern agricultural area with frost patches, also extending further north. Generally cool to cold with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending moderate to fresh westerly near southern coasts.Monday 25 JuneIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and West Coast. Showers tending scattered over the far southern coasts and the Lower South East district. Early morning fog, chiefly over the northern agricultural area with frost patches, also extending further north. Cool with moderate southwest to southeasterly winds gradually easing.Tuesday 26 June Isolated showers about the southern agricultural area contracting south and clearing during by evening. Morning fog over the agricultural area. Morning frost over the northern agricultural area and further north. Cool with light to moderate southeasterly winds turning northeasterly in the west. Wednesday 27 June Fine apart from possible isolated showers west of Nullarbor in the evening. Cool to mild with light to moderate northeast to north winds, freshening near the coasts later. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon until midnight Wednesday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area, with 1 to 2 mm over the northern agricultural area. Isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm are possible near southern coasts, the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East district. Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers developing over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts on Thursday, then contracting southwards to southern coasts on Saturday. Showers scattered near southern coasts on Thursday.
