Warning Summary at issue time For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high [1032 hPa] near Perth extends a ridge across South Australia and into western Queensland. A surface trough is moving off the eastern Queensland coast. Forecast for the rest of Saturday Cloudy with patchy rain near the coast from the southern tropics to the Wide Bay. Isolated showers along the east coast north of Gladstone. Fine and sunny elsewhere. Cool morning over the interior, with early frost in the south. Strong SE winds over the southern Gulf in the morning. Moderate SW to SE winds elsewhere, fresh near the coast. Forecast for Sunday The high moves eastwards into South Australia with a ridge extending across New South Wales. Isolated showers persisting about the east coast north of Hervey Bay in the onshore flow, extending to the adjacent inland during the afternoon. Dry over the remainder of the state, cool to cold in the south with extensive early frost. Strong winds about the southeast Gulf waters during the morning, extending to the east coast north of Burnett Heads throughout. Forecast for Monday The high remains slow moving over South Australia, maintaining a ridge through New South Wales. Strong winds will persist along the east coast north of about Gladstone, and over the southeast Gulf during the morning. Isolated showers along the east coast, extending to the central and tropical interior during the afternoon. Some patchy rain is expected to develop about the central interior during the day as an upper trough approaches from the west. Dry over the remainder of the state, cool to cold in the south with extensive early frost. Forecast for Tuesday The high pressure system moves eastwards through Victoria, maintaining strong winds along the east coast north of about Gladstone and over the southeast Gulf during the morning. Isolated showers along the east coast, extending to the central and tropical interior during the afternoon. Patchy rain areas about the central and southeast interior, clearing at night as the upper trough moves offshore. Dry over the remainder of the state, cool to cold in the south with extensive early frost. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Strong winds along the east coast begin to weaken in most parts from Thursday as the high moves towards the eastern Tasman Sea, but isolated showers along the coast will persist. Isolated afternoon showers about the eastern interior are likely to continue. Dry in the west until Friday when the next upper trough will approach the southwest, with some isolated showers expected to develop over parts of the interior. Early frost over the southern interior, but becoming less widespread from Thursday morning. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Saturday.
