Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high [1032 hPa] near Perth extends a ridge across South Australia and into
western Queensland. A trough is moving across the eastern interior of the state.
A ridge of high pressure is weakening about the east coast.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Partly cloudy over the eastern interior with very isolated showers. Isolated
showers generally near the east coast, increasing on the southern tropical coast
overnight and tending to light patchy rain. Generally dry further west with
moderate to fresh S to SW winds. Light to moderate NE to NW winds over eastern
districts. Moderate SE winds through the tropics.
Forecast for Saturday
The trough clears the east coast from Friday night, southeast winds about the
northeast tropical and central coast  will maintain further shower activity.
Patchy light rain from Friday night from the southern tropics should extend
southeast towards the Wide Bay and Burnett regions. Dry over the remainder of
the interior and cooler with S'ly winds. Strong SE winds over the southern Gulf
in the morning after the trough passage. Chilly in the south with extensive
early frost.
Forecast for Sunday
The next southern high enters South Australia with a ridge extending across
N.S.W. Isolated showers persisting about the east coast north of St Lawrence
with isolated showers. Dry over the remainder of the state, chilly in the south
with extensive early frost. Strong winds persisting in the southern Gulf in the
morning.
Forecast for Monday
The high centre reforms over the Bight but maintains a ridge across N.S.W.
Strong winds continuing in the tropics. An upper level trough enters western
Queensland and this will increase the instability over eastern Queensland
leading to isolated showers redeveloping  over eastern and central districts in
the afternoon.
Forecast for Tuesday
A new high enters S.A and maintains the ridge. The upper level trough moves
through southern Queensland. Showers that formed over the eastern interior
Monday night merges into patchy light rain and now extends towards the coast.
Isolated showers now start to develop about the southeast coast. No change
through the tropics. Early frost area continuing to contract over the southern
interior.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
The upper level trough moves into eastern districts with the rain area
contracting to the coast by Wednesday. Isolated showers remaining over the
eastern interior after the rain. Fine further west. The upper level trough moves
over the southeast region on Thursday and forms into an upper level low with
increased shower activity. Fine further west. Shower activity continues to
increase over the southeast region on Friday, little change elsewhere in the
state.

Saturday.
