MELBOURNE - Jun 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A series of cold fronts will move across southern parts of the state through the weekend before a ridge of high pressure develops over the Bight early next week. The high pressure system is expected to move slowly east, to be centred over Tasman Sea by mid-week. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers over the agricultural areas becoming isolated during the afternoon, then redeveloping about southern coasts and western coasts late evening. Areas of rain over southeastern districts this morning. Isolated showers over the southern parts of the pastoral districts. Chance of isolated thunderstorms and possible small hail about southern, western and gulf coasts. Cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong about the coasts this morning.Saturday 23 JuneScattered showers over the southern agricultural area, isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural and southern parts of the pastoral districts. Showers easing to isolated over the agricultural areas during the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms and small hail south of Adelaide to Keith. Early morning frost patches inland. Generally cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds.Sunday 24 JuneIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered over the southern agricultural area until early afternoon. Early morning frost patches inland. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds.Monday 25 JuneIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area and West Coast, becoming scattered over the Lower South East late evening. Cool with light to moderate southerly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning until midnight Monday are expected to be 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area increasing to 15 to 30 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges, southern coasts and southern parts of the Flinders Ranges. 2 to 10 mm are expected over the northern agricultural area and less than 2 mm over southern parts of the pastoral districts.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area clearing by Wednesday. Possible isolated showers developing during the afternoon and evening in the far west then isolated showers extending over the West Coast, Eyre Peninsula, southern Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island during Thursday.
