MELBOURNE - Jun 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough has recently entered the southwest of the state while a high pressure ridge is weakening over the northeast. The trough is expected to move across New South Wales today and on Friday, clearing the far northeast early on Saturday, accompanied by strengthening winds. Associated rainband is likely to affect the southwestern and central parts of the state mostly. A cold front embedded in the trough will pass over the state on Friday and Saturday, bringing temperatures down and lowering snow levels. Another cold front may pass across the south on Sunday. A high pressure ridge in a wake of the trough will start building over New South Wales during the weekend with drier conditions and frosty nights. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain developing over the southern inland, tending to rain areas in the far south and on the western slopes of the far southern ranges. Snow above 1600 metres. Early frost inland. Partly cloudy remainder. Fresh northwest winds, gusty at times in the southeast.Friday 22 JunePartly cloudy in the far northern inland and on the north and central coasts. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges, but clearing early from the far west. Snow above 1200 metres on the southern ranges. Fresh west to northwest winds, gusty at times in the southeast.Saturday 23 JuneIsolated showers developing in southern inland. Snow above 1200 metres on the southern ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds, tending southwesterly on the north and central coasts.Sunday 24 JuneIsolated showers in the southeaster inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
