Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jun 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over central New South Wales is moving east maintaining a ridge to the northwest and a cold front is approaching from the west. This front will move through the west and southeast of the state on Thursday and it will weaken over the northeast on Friday. Another high will move southwest of the Bight during Saturday extending a ridge to the northeast. The high is expected to move slowly eastwards strengthening the ridge across the west and northeast of the state as cold fronts pass to the south of the state.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayThe chance of light showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges late in the day and evening, falling as snow above 1700 metres. Mostly clear elsewhere. North to northwesterly winds, freshening in the south, and reaching a gale force about the higher southern ranges this evening.Thursday 21 JunePatchy rain developing over the southern inland, tending to rain areas in the far south and on the western slopes of the far southern ranges. Snow above 1600 metres. Early frost inland. Partly cloudy remainder. Fresh northwest winds, gusty at times in the southeast.Friday 22 JunePartly cloudy in the far northern inland and on the north and central coasts. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges, but clearing early from the far west. Snow above 1200 metres on the southern ranges. Fresh west to northwest winds, gusty at times in the southeast.Saturday 23 JuneIsolated showers developing in southern inland. Snow above 1200 metres on the southern ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds, tending southwesterly on the north and central coasts.Sunday 24 JuneIsolated showers in the southeaster inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
